Don't miss this good point to regulate sleep, it can also calm the mind, relax the tendons and regulate the Yang stilts!

Learn a new acupuncture point every week, and this week Hanxia wants to introduce you to the brand new Shen Vessel point!

The Shen Vessel point is an important point, positioned in the depression directly below the outer ankle of the foot.

Let's review the points near the ankle that were introduced. Do you remember the Kunlun and Taixi points? The Kunlun point is in the depression between the outer ankle and the Achilles tendon; the Taixi point is in the depression between the inner ankle and the Achilles tendon; these two points are opposite each other, one inside the other, which is very good to remember. The Dazhong point is on the medial side of the foot, below the medial ankle, in the medial anterior depression of the Achilles tendon attachment.

Let's go back to the Shen Vessel point and learn the name of the point.

Shen Vessel Point

Shen means "stretch", which means to stretch out, and is inextricably linked to the Shen Vessel point; it also refers to the Shen hour of the twelve hours, when the bladder meridian is in command, and this is the time when the bladder meridian is at its peak.

The Shen Vessel refers to the Yang Stilt Vessel. The Shen pulse point is a rendezvous point for the eight veins and is connected to the Yang stilt vein, which is why it has an alias, Yang stilt. This is the origin of the name of the Shen Vessel point.

Next, let's learn what diseases can be treated with the Shen Vessel point!

Atmospheric Subduction

The application of the Shen Vessel point to the subluxation of the atmosphere was recorded in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine, which was not yet called subluxation of the atmosphere. The original text is like this "Therefore, where the evil is, all are deficient, so the upper qi is insufficient, the brain is dissatisfied, the ears are bitter, the head is bitterly inclined, the eyes are dazzling ...... tonic foot under the outer ankle to stay."

The evidence of Qi sinking was first created by Zhang Xicun, and introduced in the "Medical Keizhong Ginseng Xilu" in this way: "The so-called upper Qi, that is, the atmosphere in the chest rising in the brain also." If the upper qi is insufficient, the blood cannot follow it up to the brain, then the qi and blood in the brain are insufficient, which can lead to tinnitus, head tilting, dizziness, and in severe cases, fainting.

The "complementary method" is mentioned in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine as a method of acupuncture for the treatment of atmospheric subsidence, and the lower part of the foot is where the Shen pulse point is located.

There are several commonly used acupuncture and tonic methods: 1, small whisking angle, light force, slow frequency, and more operating time, with the thumb to the left and forward, and the index finger to the right and backward. 2, the needle tip follows the direction of meridian circulation. 3, the needle enters when exhaling and exits when inhaling. 4, the needle hole is pressed when exiting.

What is the atmosphere? Zhang Xicun believes that our body's five organs and six bowels are supported by a Qi, which keeps the five organs and six bowels in this position, and this Qi is the general management of the whole body's Qi, called the atmosphere, which can also be understood as the Qi of the heart and lungs. If this atmosphere in the chest is deficient and insufficient, it cannot properly hold up the five internal organs, our body will experience symptoms such as dizziness and headache, sleep disorders, chest tightness and shortness of breath, panic and palpitations, and easy fatigue. Da Qi and Zhong Qi are different, Zhong Qi refers to the Qi of the spleen and stomach.

For the evidence of Qi subsidence, we still mostly extend the use of Zhang Xichen's first Shengchi Tang for its treatment. Today, after understanding the Shen pulse point, we can use the Shen pulse point in combination with Sheng shen Tang to improve the Qi subsidence.

Of course, if you want to make it more convenient, you can use Huang Qi in water, about 10g. Zhang Xichen believes that Huang Qi "can replenish qi, and can also ascend qi, good for treating atmospheric subsidence in the chest".

Gastrointestinal Disorders

The Shen pulse point improves gastrointestinal disorders, which are not recorded in ancient texts, but are clinical experience points, especially in diarrhea, gastroenteritis and colitis.

The method of moxibustion can be chosen from both sides of the Shen meridian points, to ensure that the points are warm and not painful, and basically will be reduced in 1 time.

What is the principle of the Shen pulse point to improve diarrhea? Let's analyze it.

The main cause of diarrhea is dampness, dampness is trapped in the spleen, the spleen is not healthy, resulting in water and grain are not divided, water and grain mixed and diarrhea occurs, so there is a "no dampness can not drain" said.

Let's look at a case of moxibustion on the Shen pulse point to improve diarrhea. Thanks to Zhang Dengbu, Hou Fengqin, Han Youdong and Liu Qin from the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the case!

A male patient, because he ate cold food the day before, started to have diarrhea that night, pooping 4 or 5 times, with thin, water-like stools, along with stomach pain and intestinal sounds.

It was obvious that it was cold and damp diarrhea. The diarrhea cleared up with moxibustion on both sides of the Shen pulse point for 10 minutes on one side and moxibustion once.

The most important thing to improve diarrhea is to resolve dampness and strengthen the spleen. On the one hand, the Shen pulse point belongs to the bladder meridian, and the main duty of the bladder is to excrete urine, so there is a method in Chinese medicine to improve diarrhea: "to facilitate urination in order to realize stool", so stimulating the Shen pulse point can promote the operation of the bladder meridian and excrete water; on the other hand, the Shen pulse point is connected to the Yang stilt meridian, and the Yang stilt meridian is closely related to the three Yang meridians of the hands and feet, so stimulating the Shen pulse point The moxibustion itself can warm up Yang Qi, then regulate the six internal organs, and harmonize the intestines and stomach, Yang Qi is full of water and fluids, urine, dampness and stagnation from the stool to the actual carry on!

Insomnia

The stilt vein is responsible for the opening and closing of the eyes. Yang stilts are strong, the spirit is revitalized, the eyes open and do not want to sleep; Yin stilts are strong, the eyes close and fall asleep, that is to say, the stilts are closely related to our sleep, only the stilts are normal, each in its own way, we can maintain the state of "day essence night".

Insomnia not only affects health, but also affects the social function during the day, half of the summer introduced a set of massage points, insomnia has a certain improvement.

Recommended acupuncture points: Shen pulse, Zhaohai, Annmian, Shenmen, Sanyinjiao, then identify the evidence to take points.

For liver depression, add Xingmaanxi Taichong; for heart fire, add Laogong, Shaochong and Shaozhe; for phlegm heat, add Fenglong Neiting; for heart and spleen deficiency, add Heart Yu, Spleen Yu and Foot Sanli.

Internal and external rotation of the foot

The Stilt Vessel is responsible for the movement of the lower limbs. The advantages of choosing the Shen Vessel point are firstly, it is located at the ankle, so it can better play its "heat", and secondly, the Shen Vessel point is connected to the Yang Stilt Vessel, which is "the key to walking and the cause of moving the foot", and regulates lower limb movements.

The stilt vein also "transports the yin and yang of the whole body", so that the yin and yang of the two stilt veins can be regulated and the qi of the stilt vein can be normalized, thus correcting the internal and external rotation of the foot, allowing the patient to participate in rehabilitation exercises as early as possible and promoting flexibility and agility of the lower limbs.
